Who you'll get to hear and meet: clarinet and piano players
Born in Yorkshire, England, Paul Weston started making music at the age of seven with the family violin. By the time he was 12 he was also learning viola, clarinet and saxophone (and a little bit of contrabass).
An alumnus of the Royal College of Music (London, UK), he spent 26 years as a Royal Marines musician and Director of Music, travelling to over 50 countries including four years on board the Royal Yacht BRITANNIA in support of the Royal family.
Since arriving in Canada in 2005, Paul has appeared with many ensembles across North America as an instrumentalist and conductor, including on Classical 96.3 FM and the CBC.
When he isn’t making music, Paul is an independent business owner and Key-Note Speaker. He is also an elite Age-Group Triathlete, representing Canada at numerous World Championships.
A successful author, his books ‘Running in the Rain’ and ‘Running Up Hills’ are both International #1 Best Sellers.
As a member of the neurodiverse community, Paul is an advocate for better acceptance of people living with Tourette Syndrome.
Pianist Joanna Grace is a Toronto-based Music Teacher and Sound Healer, coaching adults and kids to play and experience music to release stress, quiet their minds and restore their energy. A naturally enthusiastic teacher, at age 8, she started teaching her neighbourhood friends everything she knew about playing the piano. And at age 9 was captivated to learn the (french) horn.
Joanna studied at Western University and received music degrees from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA). Since 2000, she has been teaching both piano and horn students of all ages and levels. In 2004, she received a national award in the U.S. for “excellence in teaching, dedication to music education and outstanding studio development”.
Currently in West Toronto, her creative contributions have earned the “Award of Recognition” from the Richmond Hill Philharmonic Orchestra, “Creative Emerging Talent Award” from the Creative Industries Symposium in Richmond Hill, and “Artist of the Year” from Shadowpath Theatre. https://joannagrace.ca
