About this Event
Join us in Philadelphia on publication day to celebrate the release of Confronting Zionism: Decolonizing Palestine and Building the World Anew (Haymarket Books, 2026)!
For one evening, we’re turning Asian Arts Initiative into Noura Erakat’s classroom. Join the co-author, professor, and legal scholar for a moderated teach-in in the tradition of popular education. Part conversation, part classroom seminar, the evening will invite us to think critically together about the work of decolonizing Palestine and building a different world.
And because learning and celebration belong together, we’ll gather around good food, conversation, and a little friendly competition! Expect a Palestinian dinner prepared by a local auntie from Northeast Philly, followed by a round of trivia/quizzo inspired by Noura’s teach-in, with tea and dessert served alongside.
Bring a notebook, your questions, and an appetite for learning and food!
What to expect:
- A teach-in with Noura Erakat
- Palestinian dinner + tea + dessert
- Trivia / quizzo inspired by the evening’s discussion
- Book available for purchase (with your ticket or in person, at the event)
Tickets & Palestinian Mutual Aid
100% of general-admission ticket, books, and merch sales will go toward Palestinian mutual aid. We will announce the specific initiative closer to the event and share details in person.
Copies of Confronting Zionism can be purchased in advance as part of your ticket order, or at the event.
Come ready to celebrate, study, eat, and think together about the world we are working to build.
La La Lil Jidar
La La Lil Jidar (“No, No to the Wall” in Arabic) is a Philly-based solidarity arts collective for Palestine. Formed in Spring 2023 and emerging from an exhibition of 20 years of documentary-photography and audio of the Apartheid Wall, we’ve grown into a collective for artists and movement workers. We center Palestinian, often queer, and allied voices through events – storytelling, political education, visual art, poetry, movement, and food – creating spaces of refuge that nourish our resistance through artistic connection.

The W.E.B. Du Bois Movement School for Abolition & Reconstruction (The Abolition School)
The W.E.B. Du Bois Movement School for Abolition & Reconstruction is a political education program for aspiring revolutionaries and movement leaders from those communities most impacted by poverty, policing, and mass incarceration. Our home is Philadelphia, crossroads of Harriet Tubman and Octavius Catto, W.E.B. Du Bois and Paul Robeson, Mumia Abu-Jamal and Maroon Shoatz, a critical hub for abolitionist militancy in the past and a thriving and powerful movement ecosystem today.
