About this Event
Building on Series 1, this two-day masterclass is designed for experienced haematology nurses (Band 6+) working towards Clinical Nurse Specialist or Advanced Nurse Practitioner roles.
You don't need to have attended Part 1 — everyone is welcome.
Day 1 – Malignant Disease & Stem Cell Transplant
Autologous and allogeneic/haploidentical transplant, myeloma transplant considerations, stem cell return, donor services, sexual health and fertility support, viral reactivation (EBV, BK, CMV), and GVHD — all grounded in real case studies.
Day 2 – Non-Malignant Haematology
Red cell transplant, primary immunodeficiency, gene therapy, and the emerging use of CAR-T for multiple sclerosis, closing with a patient experience session on living with non-malignant conditions requiring transplant.
By the end, delegates will be able to:
- Understand the transplant pathway from autologous through allogeneic/haploidentical transplant
- Set up and run donor and stem cell return services
- Recognise and manage viral reactivation and GVHD
- Support patients through fertility and sexual health conversations
- Apply knowledge of non-malignant haematology (red cell transplant, PID, gene therapy)
- Understand emerging practice areas like CAR-T for autoimmune disease
- Draw on direct patient experience insights
