Quintet full of energy moves between free jazz, indie pop and rock._
Danish guitarist Teis Semey, nicknamed ’the bad boy of Dutch jazz’, shows with his quintet what happens when free jazz, indie pop and rock collide. The five musicians throw all caution to the wind, yet keep their interplay sharp down to the smallest detail. While the focus is on carefully thought out melodies and form to facilitate interplay, their new music, heard on the upcoming album Live in Saalfelden, is more tuned towards a beat driven approach.
In recent years the quintet has performed at North Sea Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival and Copenhagen Jazz Festival, and was a showcase artist at jazzahead! and Footprints Touring Artists. Those stages have hardened the band: young in years, but with the routine of seasoned players. For anyone drawn to music that seeks out the new and the daring, this is a band you have to see.
