The Deets:
Sharpen your No. 2 pencils and dust off your dictionaries — H&H Books is hosting SPELLADELPHIA, an adults-only, no-holds-barred, throw-down spelling fiasco, and we want YOU to be there.
- COMPETE in teams of up to three for glory, fame, and $500 to donate to your favorite organization!
- CHEER, HECKLE, and SHOW LOVE for our alphabetical acrobats as they battle to the finish
- DONATE money to help support our work to actualize our nonprofit mission
- SPONSOR to show your commitment to free literary programming, indie bookstore culture, and a more literate, weird Philadelphia
Spelling bee teams of up to three people will battle it out through three rounds that get trickier as the night goes on: gnarly Philly and PA names, local restaurants from all cultures, and the literary terms you half-remember from that one English class. Miss and you're out — last spellers standing go to sudden death. It all happens at Star | Bolt on Thursday, November 12

What can you expect at SPELLADELPHIA?
It's about more than word nerds competing (although that is the main entertainment). We'll have a book sale, raffles galore, a cash bar, and free appetizers! Grab a spectator ticket — cheer, heckle, and enjoy light bites while you watch and whisper to your friends, “I know that one!”

Every dollar raised goes straight into H&H’s hub! With your ticket purchase or sponsorship, you will:
- help us spruce up our lower level and create a vibrant third-space
- fund social justice-driven community programming in partnership with our neighbors
- properly compensate the book nerds who keep this organization running
