About this Event
Republic Sings is a free community choir that meets every Wednesday lunchtime at Republic in East India. It's open to everyone: students, university staff, people who work on site, and neighbours from across Poplar and East London.
What to expect
You don't need to have sung before, and there are no auditions. Some people come as confident singers, others haven't sung since school. Either way, it's an hour away from your desk or your day, with some singing, some movement and a chance to meet people you wouldn't otherwise cross paths with.
About Nav Arles
The choir is led by Naveen "Nav" Arles BCA FRSA, who has spent more than 40 years in music and over 30 years running singing groups for people of all ages and abilities. As founder of MDBrunch, Nav has led choirs in schools, youth projects, workplaces, wellbeing groups and prisons. His singers have toured with Take That, Hugh Jackman and Lulu, and have performed for King Charles III. He's a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and received a British Citizen's Award for his community work.
