Born in south-western Romania, Alexandra Păceană began her music education at the age of six, embarking on her guitar journey at eleven. Just a year later, she made her debut on the stage of the ‘Oltenia Philharmonic’ in Craiova. Alexandra has won several prizes at international competitions during her years at the ‘M. Sorescu’ High School of Arts Craiova, where she studied under George Mitrache.
In 2020, she moved to London to pursue undergraduate studies, earning a first-class degree from Middlesex University London in 2023 and receiving the ‘Turton Prize for Music’ for her outstanding achievements. During this time, she studied under Professors Benjamin Dwyer and Peter Fribbins.
Alexandra has now secured a place at the Royal Academy of Music to pursue a Master of Music in Performance (Classical Guitar). Her repertoire spans from Baroque masterpieces to contemporary compositions, showcasing her versatility as a performer. Her Master’s project will explore the music styles of south-western Romania during the 17th and 18th centuries, aiming to enrich the classical guitar repertoire by shedding light on this unexplored area.
Her dynamic personality and intellectual curiosity have also led her to composition alongside instrumental performance. In 2023, her folk-inspired piano trio was premiered in London by three Canadian musicians, while her piece The Darkling Thrush earned third prize in composition at the Caneres International Music Competition in Vienna. Alexandra’s interests extend beyond performance and composition to literature, music promotion, and new music.
With extensive teaching experience, Alexandra aspires to establish her own music school while pursuing a successful career as a classical guitarist and composer.
