About this Event
Nialler9 and The Big Romance present Listen Closely, a monthly listening party focusing on one album we love, on the last Wednesday of every month.
This month:
Queens Of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf (2002)
- on sale Tuesday November 3rd at noon.
The third QOTSA album is one of the finest razor-sharp collection of hard rock songs of the 21st century, and one of the best modern rock drum albums thanks to the presence of Dave Grohl back behind the kit once more. Framed by the thematic concept of an LA radio station playing these stonking rock songs - all greasy low-end riffs, falsetto harmonies, sharp guitar and killer choruses. And Mark Lanegan doing some of his best vocal work in years, alongside Homme and Nick Oliveri. It features 'No One Knows', 'Go With The Flow', 'Song For The Dead', 'You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar… 'and 'First It Giveth'. Can't wait to hear this on vinyl as loud as possible on the one of the finest vinyl soundsystems in the country.
Join Nialler9 and a guest for a discussion about this modern classic record and a playback of the album on vinyl through The Big Romance’s high-quality Toby Hatchett soundsystem. We also chat about the album’s background, context, craft, production, the band's history / future and why the album matters for a live Nialler9 Podcast episode.
Tickets are limited to 45 for this intimate event.
Become a paid member of the Nialler9 Patreon to get half priced tickets.
Please note - Doors at 7:00pm for this one with kickoff at 7:30pm sharp.
