About this Event
An album is never just sound. It’s a feeling you return to, a memory it brings back, a version of yourself it still speaks to. D’Angelo spent five years shaping it, and more than two decades later, people are still finding new layers in it.
The Book Club was built on one simple idea: you don’t have to read the book. The same goes here. You don’t need to know the artists or anything about music. The records are simply a doorway. What matters is curiosity, presence and the people around you.
For this special edition of Off The Record, The Social Hub teams up with Kriticos Mwansa, founder of The Book Club Lounge: an evening where music and literature meet. Instead of a book, the session centres on records, played on vinyl through the Clubhouse Hi-Fi system.
As the music plays, you’ll receive conversation cards featuring lyrics and a prompt that invites you to reflect, share and dive deeper into the themes behind the songs.
Join the conversation, or simply sit back and listen. There’s no pressure either way.
