Learn to turn fabric waste into handmade paper, then kantha stitch onto it to create your own unique artwork in a two-part series workshop!
About this Event

Kantha Stitching on Handmade Fabric Paper is a two-part hands-on workshop exploring the transformation of fabric waste through making, stitching and storytelling.

In the first session, you’ll turn fabric waste pulp into paper, creating a unique surface to work on. The following weekend, you’ll stitch into your dried paper using simple Kantha-inspired techniques. Learn repetitive stitching to build patterns, marks and create your own unique design.

Once your stitching is complete, you’ll frame your finished piece, ready to take home — transforming discarded textiles into a unique, handmade artwork that you’ve created from start to finish.

Inspired by the Bengali tradition of Nokshi Kantha, the workshop celebrates sustainability, slow making, and the joy of making things by hand.

No previous experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to learn something new!

Come make, stitch, experiment and turn scraps into unique art. 🪡
