About this Event
Summer is just around the corner. Are you ready to stay safe around water?
Auckland Central Library and Drowning Prevention Auckland invite you to join the Water Safety Experience, a programme designed to help participants build confidence and stay safe in and around New Zealand's waterways.
Led by an experienced aquatic educator, this interactive programme combines a classroom-based theory session with a practical pool session, providing participants with essential water safety knowledge and valuable skills to stay safe around water. Participants of all confidence levels and swimming abilities are welcome.
The workshop begins with a theory session at Auckland Central Library, followed by a lunch break. Participants will then travel to Tepid Baths for the practical pool session.
This workshop is limited to 15 participants and is open to people aged 16 years and over. Registration is required, and participants must attend both the theory and practical sessions.
Participants should bring or purchase their own lunches, bring appropriate swimwear, and a towel for the practical pool session.
You will:
- Learn how to identify and manage risks around water.
- Understand key water safety principles for New Zealand beaches, rivers, and other waterways.
- Build confidence in making safe decisions around water.
- Practise essential water survival and self-rescue skills in a supervised pool environment.
