About this Event
To mark the opening of, join curator Frances Loeffler, Curator of Exhibitions at The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, for a conversation with participating artists.
Together, they will reflect on the ideas behind their works and the exhibition’s exploration of play as a radical and transformative force. Imagining children as the primary audience, Colourful Parachutes asks how the conventions of the gallery might shift when curiosity, experimentation, and imagination take the lead.
The discussion will also consider the renewed urgency of engaging children within contemporary art institutions, and what it means to center their experiences at a time when their access to play, creativity, and public space is increasingly uneven. Touching on notions of participation, agency, and the right to art and play, the conversation will explore how artists and institutions can open space for younger generations, not only as audiences, but as active participants in shaping possible futures.
