A Tribute to Tony Gatlif — A Journey Through Music, Cinema & Flamenco
📅 Friday, 30 October 2026
📍 Treehouse, Amsterdam Noord
Join us for a special film night celebrating the life and extraordinary cinematic legacy of Tony Gatlif, the visionary filmmaker who recently passed away.
Through his films, Gatlif explored Roma culture, identity, freedom and the extraordinary power of music to connect people across borders.
🎥 VENGO (2000) — 90 min
Set in the heart of Andalusia, Vengo is a powerful story of love, grief, family and revenge, starring the legendary flamenco dancer Antonio Canales.
Filled with breathtaking flamenco performances and musical influences from North Africa, the film captures the passion, intensity and soul of Andalusian culture.
🎥 AND FOR THE BRAVE ONES… LATCHO DROM (1993) — 103 min!
If we're still in the mood for more cinema, music and adventure, we'll take a short break after Vengo and continue with another of Gatlif's masterpieces!
Latcho Drom takes us on an extraordinary musical journey following the migration of the Roma people from India to Spain. Told almost entirely through music, song and dance, this beautiful documentary celebrates centuries of cultural heritage, culminating in the passionate world of Andalusian flamenco.
☕🍷 Coffee, tea, wine and snacks will be available throughout the evening.
