About this Event
Unruly Ecologies is an Art and Ecology reading group for people who don’t necessarily like reading groups. No need to read anything in advance.
Each month we’ll meet by candlelight to:
- Explore a range of texts and artworks on a specific theme
- Invite a non-human guest of honour to support our thinking beyond two-eyed, two-legged ways of being in the world
- Respond creatively together, making a collective artwork
This session's question is: FEELERS: What’s possible through interspecies communication (and listening)?
Inspired by tentacular thinking, roots, mycelium. With inspiration morsels by Donna Haraway and Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg and insights from our Guest of Honour, Snail, we'll consider how we can be in touch with non-human kin. We'll do a gentle art activity to respond creatively and collectively to these ideas.
No prior experience with art, ecology or reading groups is required! Come as you are; all welcome.
You're invited to bring along an item which responds to/ represents your relationship with this month's theme. For example, this could be a:
- poem
- book
- photograph
- painting
- natural object
- found item
- scientific fact
Ticket includes art materials, reading and visual stimuli, and a cup of tea.
Tickets offered on a sliding scale. If you are able to select a 'Supporter' ticket this enables us to offer free/low price tickets to those for whom cost may be a barrier.
