About this Event

The Centre for Creativity is pleased to hold our first panel event of the year, "Creatives in Plain Sight". This panel brings together University of Toronto staff who maintain creative practices alongside their professional lives here at U of T. Our speakers will share their creative journeys, how they found their way into their current careers, and how they balance creative work with the demands of everyday life. Join us for an engaging discussion about making space for creativity in your life after graduation.

Light refreshments will be provided. Please register online to attend.
About the speakers
Marco Adamović (Vic Adamo) is a Toronto-based artist, producer, multi-instrumentalist, educator, and cultural programmer whose work sits at the intersection of Hip-Hop, community-building, and creative expression. Drawing from his Balkan roots and a deep appreciation for Hip-Hop, indie, and alternative music, Adamo creates thoughtful, genre-blurring work that explores identity, resilience, and human connection. As a Program Coordinator at Hart House, University of Toronto, Adamo develops and curates programs that bring artists, students, and communities together through dialogue, learning, and creative exchange.
Diana Radenko is a designer and multi-media artist with a passion for building creative communities. She graduated from U of T with a degree in book history and now works at the university full time. In her current role, she leads the communications team at the Innovation Hub, a student-driven design thinking collective focused on improving the student experience. Outside of work, she volunteers at arts festivals around the city and regularly participates in a writing group. She stays creative by penning speculative fiction, exploring new media, and spending time in nature.
Jackie Shapiro is an award-winning creative lead, art director, graphic designer and photographer with more than 20 years of experience spanning design, photography, branding, fundraising and digital communications. A lifelong creative, from playing in the darkroom in high school to a BFA in Photography and Art History from NSCAD University, her career has taken her through galleries, commercial photography, creative agencies and, since 2014, the University of Toronto. Once described as a “creative Swiss army knife,” she now leads creative for major fundraising and marketing initiatives, while continuing to pursue meaningful freelance work with not-for-profits and in the documentary film world, particularly in the performing arts. Jackie finds equal value in big-picture thinking and making things by hand—most recently through pottery. For her, maintaining a creative life beyond the day job is essential—not just as a side project, but as a way to stay curious, inspired and sane.
Matthew Tierney is the author of five books of poetry. His most recent, Lossless from Coach House Books, was nominated for the Al and Eurithe Purdy Poetry Prize. He is the recipient of a Trillium Book Award for Poetry and P.K. Page Founders’ Award. He works for U of T as a science writer and communications officer in the Faculty of Medicine at University of Toronto and lives in the east end of Toronto with his wife and son.
