About this Event
It's National Tree Week! So join Plymouth Tree People for this special event with Jon Stokes, the Tree Council’s Director of Trees, Science and Research.
If you can afford to, please make a donation when you register for your ticket, to cover the cost of running the event.
Jon set out to describe and celebrate all of Britain & Ireland’s native trees and shrubs, but first he had to find them! Join us for an evening talk with Jon who takes us on his journey with this illustrated talk.
We hope you will join us. The talk will be about an hour, with questions and answers, refreshments & conversation.
Please note that this venue does not have step free access or accessible toilets.
Jon Stokes is one of Britain’s leading tree conservationists and has been studying and influencing the world of trees for over thirty years. He’s also an entertaining speaker with a photographer’s eye, able to bring to life his constant curiosity and love for trees.
Plymouth Tree People Tree Wardens volunteer as part of the national Tree Warden scheme, founded in 1990 by The Tree Council. We aim to harness our own love for trees to learn, inspire interest in, understanding of, care for and planting of new trees in our city and surrounds.
Copies of Jon’s latest book, the WILDGUIDES Trees of Britain and Ireland, will be available to purchase. (Read his author interview at https://blog.nhbs.com/interview/author-interview-with-jon-stokes-trees-of-britain-and-ireland/ .)
This event is one of a schedule of events Plymouth Tree People are hosting for this year's National Tree Week. There will also be a storytelling and book reading with Lisa Schneidau on Nov 29th and a showing of No Trees, No Seas at the Plymouth Arts Cinema on 25th Nov.
