About this Event
Yoga Foundations
Make Yoga Make Sense.
Ever been in a yoga class and wondered when you're supposed to inhale or exhale? What does it mean to "stack your shoulders over your wrists"? Or how are you actually supposed to use those yoga blocks?
Maybe you're brand new to yoga, or you've practiced before but never really had the opportunity to slow things down and ask questions.
That's what Yoga Foundations is all about.
Join us for a 90-minute interactive workshop and guided practice where we'll break down the basics, explore different approaches, and help you feel more comfortable and confident on the mat.
This isn't just a yoga class where you follow along. We'll take time to understand the movements, try different options, and explore what works for your body.
What we'll explore
- Yoga basics: What yoga is (and isn't)
- Breath + movement: Understanding when to inhale and exhale
- Common cues: Making sense of instructions you hear in class
- Props + poses: How to use blocks and explore different variations
- Foundational movements: Breaking down poses and transitions
- Guided practice: Bringing what you've learned together
- What's next: Exploring different styles of yoga and finding classes that interest you
There will be opportunities to ask questions, experiment with different options, and learn at your own pace.
New to yoga? No experience or flexibility required.
Already practicing? Come revisit the foundations, explore familiar movements in new ways, and deepen your understanding.
The goal isn't to leave knowing everything about yoga. It's to leave with a better understanding of what you're doing, why you're doing it, and the confidence to keep exploring.
What you'll need
- Yoga mat
- Comfortable clothing you can move in
- Yoga blocks, if you have them (a limited number will be available)
- An open mind and a willingness to try
