About this Event

This is a really special Winter Solstice/Turning of the year edition of the Women's Voice and Drum Workshop.

We'll be reflecting on what's past over the last year and then turning our attention to what we'd like for ourselves in the year to come.

The winter solstice is very much a time of turning in as we are in the wintering phase of the year.

We'll be lighting a fire to our passions and desires.

Calling on what will be bringing into out lives in the next 12 months.

Plant the seeds that will grow into strong trees in our lives.

When women speak and sing and voice with intention amazing things can happen.

To celebrate all the women that have come and drummed and sang in this space over the last year I'm offering this workshop at a special offer price of £30 - that's £15 off the usual price.

There's never any pressure to sing or voice during the sessions - if you just want to come and drum and enjoy the singing of others that's totally valid.

Here's a bit about why Women's Drum & Voice is so needed in these times.

So many women at this time are feeling a call to heal their connection with their voice.

There’s a longing to express ourselves more fully. And to break through patterns of keeping quiet

Working with the drums and the voice together can be a liberation of self expression and can create a supportive environment to allow our authentic voice to emerge.

We aren't aiming to sound 'perfect' or 'nice' we will be inviting the realness of our voices to gently be uncovered. So many of us have wounds around our voices not being welcomed. And in this space we are looking to welcome the voice as it is. This will be a gentle and deep work.

Meeting you where you are and helping you move at your own pace to a deeper connection with your voice, having it heard and welcomed.

This workshop is a space for women to reconnect with their authentic voice and be supported by the sounds and rhythm of the drum - unlocking self-expression, empowerment, and a deeper connection to ourselves.

Through guided vocal practices, drumming, gentle healing experiences and intuitive sound work, we will:

🔸 Liberate the voice – Explore humming, sounding, simple chants, and free expression to explore our voices at a pace that feels right for us and discover our own unique voices.

🔸 Connect with the drum – Experience the grounding and transformative power of drums to heal and connect, allowing the drums to support us as we explore our voices.

🔸 Deepen Inner connection – Use sound and rhythm for self-discovery, healing, and inner connection.

🔸 Come together – In this space we will be giving each other permission to explore our voices. And in so doing unravel generations of wounds and fears around being heard.

Emma Hewitt, a drama facilitator, drum circle holder and energy healer will be guiding the group through a series of voice explorations and drumming to find a deeper connection with our voices with the aim to experience greater self expression.

It’s the kind of day where everyone can work at their own pace and there’s no expectations - let's co-create a space where we can open up to something very beautiful - our own voices.

This will be a safely held trauma informed, non judgemental and supportive environment so we can be as brave as we feel in any moment to explore our voices.

If this is calling, do join - it would be wonderful to have you with us.

There's no skills or experience of drumming needed.

There will be plenty of drums to borrow or bring your drum if you have one (we’ll be working with shamanic style drums - sometimes called frame drums).

‘I went to a wonderful workshop yesterday held by Emma Hewitt 'The Women's Voice and Drum Connection' workshop was a very empowering experience. Exploring my own voice with drum and hearing other women loudly and wildly expressing their inner voice was a deeply powerful and moving experience. We connected with our ancestral voices as part of the session and I feel a door opened, I'm now excited about exploring my voice with the spirit of drum. Thank you Emma for offering a safe and empowering space for all of us attendees.’ Maggie

“I have attended around four voice & drum workshops so far and the transformation that has been witnessed has been incredible. Emma is so welcoming into the space and meets you where you are at with so much compassion and understanding. These drum sessions are an opening to meet more of you and to not be afraid to be seen and heard. I just love attending them and I get something different each time. Just to say thank you Emma from the bottom of my heart for all the support and guidance you have given during these workshops.” Lianne

This workshop is open to all who identify as women, as well as non-binary individuals who feel called to this space.

Emma Hewitt has had a 20 year career working in Community Arts. After falling in love with drums and drumming in 2020 after making her first drum and drumming all the way through the pandemic Emma understands the power of drums for health, wellbeing and spiritual connection.

A Family Constellation Facilitator and Reiki Master/Teacher Emma creates unique ways to heal and create connections.

Emma has undertaken multiple shamanic and drum trainings and uncovered more and more of the ways that drums can be used and support us on our journey.

Through holding drumming circles Emma's voice started to emerge. From somewhere vocal expressions that came from ancestors, past lives and spirit guides emerged.

In this workshop Emma is delighted to be able to share some of the knowledge she has acquired over a 4 year love affair with drums and drumming and voice connection.
