About this Event
Wild Song - Embodied Voice and Vocal Improv Workshop with Katherine Eid Wild
Vocal improv is a way of co-creating spontaneous music in the moment, together.
In this workshop, we'll turn our attention from what it 'sounds like' when we sing
and drop into the felt sense, the body, the source of creativity.
We'll loosen up the body, settle the nervous system, and learn to play again.
There's just enough risk to make it exciting, and enough safety that your deepest parts feel welcomed.
Expect deep work and serious play.
No experience needed. All voices welcome.
Structure
Everything is intentionally scaffolded to build trust, safety, and connection to self and the group.
With guidance, you'll learn to create sound baskets: repeating patterns built on sound and silence, rhythm, harmony, and texture. You'll be guided every step of the way. There's nothing you need to know ahead of time. Everything is an invitation and is adaptable to your level.
Listening is always an equal contribution to the space as singing. You can step back to listen, take a pause, listen, or sing your heart out. You join in at the level that feels right for you.
For all creatives
The principles of vocal improv carry into any creative practice. You'll learn to listen deeply, fill space, create contrast, and find sounds you've never tried before. If you're a writer, dancer, actor, songwriter, or a creative being, this practice has so much to teach.
Vocal improvising also teaches us so much about the interior plane. Learn to meet blocks and move through them creatively, how to get up again when something doesn't land or chaos takes over, and learn how to celebrate the beauty that's waiting to come through you.
We will explore play, stillness, presence, and expression through guided exercises, vocal play, and deep listening.
- Explore voice through breath, body, and presence.
- Connect with the innate, creative intelligence you were born with.
- Engage in call & response exercises to build confidence and musical intuition.
- Learn to listen to your voice from the inside-out rather than judging from the outside.
- Vocal Improvisation practices to unlock self expression.
- Deepen awareness of how the body & nervous system shape sound.
- Experience how the voice shifts when connected to movement & deep listening.
- Play with group improvisation & sound baskets to explore vocal freedom.

About Katherine Eid Wild
Katherine Eid Wild is a multi-disciplinary artist working across the mediums of performance, music, and documentary film.
Having grown up with professional voice training, she left the music world feeling broken. The journey to reclaiming the joy of singing has brought her to share it with others.
She has performed on stages around the world including the Bioneers Conference, Oregon Country Fair, National Storytelling Festival, and International Digital Storytelling Conference in Brazil. Her approach is deeply influenced by her training in group facilitation based on Hakomi somatic principles.
Katherine has trained with Briony Greenhill, a student of Rhiannon and in the lineage of Bobby McFerrin. She's also enjoyed workshops with Dave Worm. Katherine is currently in a two-year advanced training with Música do Círculo. She holds a certification in Hakomi somatic coaching from EmbodyWise.
Through compassionate presence and deep listening, Katherine helps others find the courage to share their voice by creating safe and transformative containers.
"Katherine's work is food for the hungry soul"
