About this Event
West Town Business & Creative Exchange: Ideas & Connections
Better connections happen when people have something useful to talk about.
West Town Business & Creative Exchange brings together a curated group of Chicago business owners, creative professionals, consultants, marketers, freelancers and independent operators for an intentional after-work networking evening in West Town.
This is not a conference. There are:
* No keynote speakers.
* No panels.
* No pitch stage.
* No mandatory speed networking.
Instead, the evening combines small-group conversations with open networking so you have enough structure to meet new people without feeling like you're moving through a scripted networking exercise.
Whether you're looking for collaborators, referral relationships, creative partners, professional resources or simply a stronger local network, the goal is to make useful conversations easier to start.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Role-Coded Name Badges
At check-in, attendees select an optional role category:
* Blue — Business Owners & Operators
* Orange — Creative / Design / Content
* Green — Marketing / Growth / Sales
* Gray — Technology / Product / Digital
* White — Consulting / Professional Services
Role colors serve as natural conversation cues without professional hierarchy or certification barriers.
The West Town Exchange Card
Every paid attendee receives a physical Exchange Card to capture:
* What I'm Working On: A current project, business priority or creative challenge.
* What I Can Offer: A useful skill, perspective, resource or introduction.
* What I'm Looking For: A collaborator, service partner or specific perspective.
* Follow-Up: Promising contacts you want to reconnect with after the event.
The goal is not to collect a stack of business cards; it's to find 2–3 conversations worth continuing.
Two Small-Group Exchange Rounds
Instead of standing in a crowded room trying to break into circles of strangers, attendees begin in small conversation groups (5–6 peers). Each round focuses on a practical prompt with plenty of time for organic dialogue. No public pitching required.
Open Connection Period
Following the structured rounds, the room opens for relaxed conversation. Reconnect with someone from an earlier group or meet professionals from other tables.
Optional Post-Event Professional Directory
All paid participants may voluntarily opt into our private digital directory (Name, Business, Role, LinkedIn, Collaboration Interests) delivered within 24 hours post-event.
