About this Event
Voy a cultivar la tierra is a book of photographs, by HoJun Yu, collected over several years around Iglesias Gardens, a community garden on the intersection of North Lawrence Street and Arlington Street in West Kensington in Philadelphia, accompanied by interviews with community members about their memories of the neighborhood, the changes they've observed, and their hopes for the area's future in the face of threats from developers and profiteers. From community activities to organizing efforts against gentrification, Iglesias Gardens has been more than just a garden, and the book was created to serve as its visual archive, and to fundraise to support the garden's continuing work.
HoJun Yu is a photographer currently based in London. He thought he was going to pursue a PhD in chemistry, but he didn't because that would've prevented him from having time for music and family.
All book sales will go support the garden's annual fundraiser or donate directly HERE.
