About this Event
Welcome to the Ultrasonography basics event! Come join us at Granite Brewery & Tied House to meet Dr. Jamie Druck, our Medical Director. Get ready to dive into the world of ultrasonography. Don't miss this opportunity to expand your knowledge and network with like-minded individuals.
By joining us you will learn:
Focused assessment with sonography for trauma (AFAST) is a rapid, point-of-care ultrasound technique that can provide valuable information about critically ill or injured patients in minutes. Although traditionally associated with trauma, AFAST can be useful in a wide variety of emergency and general practice presentations.
This presentation will provide a practical introduction to the fundamentals of AFAST, with an emphasis on techniques that can be readily incorporated into general practice. Attendees will review the basic principles of point-of-care ultrasound, patient positioning, machine settings, and acquisition of the standard AFAST views. The presentation will also discuss how to recognize and interpret free abdominal fluid, as well as common pitfalls and limitations of the technique.
By the end of the session, attendees will have a practical framework for performing and interpreting a basic AFAST examination and greater confidence incorporating focused abdominal ultrasound into their everyday clinical practice.
This event is sponsored by Antech, who will have demo ultrasound machines available for trial. Attendees will be able to test the Ultrasound machines that Antech has available.
RVT's and DVM's welcome, 3 CE Credit for RVT's that attend.
