About this Event
When: Saturday, October 3rd, 1-3pm
Where: Open Source Gallery (306 17th St., Brooklyn)
All skill levels are welcome to come craft, share stories, and learn together with community support. As we create together, we’ll talk about the significance of handmade items in both our personal and collective histories. This event will take place as part of October's Fall of Freedom.
Feel free to bring your own yarn, needles, and hooks; some materials will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Not a knitter? Not to worry, you can bring whatever other crafts you are working on.

Collaborating closely with Tony Award-winning costume designers, Mary Pat has custom crafted blankets, sweaters, hats, throw pillows, and an array of unique items.
: Fall of Freedom is an urgent call to the arts community to unite in defiance of authoritarian forces sweeping the nation. Our Democracy is under attack. Threats to free expression are rising. Dissent is being criminalized. Institutions and media have been recast as mouthpieces of propaganda. In 2026 we are activating 2 nationwide waves of creative resistance. Galleries, museums, libraries, comedy clubs, theaters, and concert halls across the country will host exhibitions, performances, and public events that channel the urgency of this moment. Fall of Freedom is an open invitation to artists, creators, and communities to take part — and to celebrate the experiences, cultures, and identities that shape the fabric of our nation. Art matters. Artists are a threat to American fascism.
Free. Registration recommended. Please consider a $10 so that we can continue to offer free programs like this throughout the year.
