Join internationally acclaimed Awakenings Ensemble on a musical journey from Istanbul through Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Persia and beyond. This cross-cultural collaboration weaves together Turkish, Middle Eastern, and Persian traditions with modern jazz, creating an intricate soundscape that transcends borders.Having performed at Lincoln Center NYC and prestigious venues globally, the Ensemble features Michael Pignéguy (percussion/piano), Steve Richter (vibraphone), Esfandiar Shamir (voice/ney flute), Michael Edelby (oud), with special guests Jessica Beahan (clarinets), Emily Gelineau (violin), and Joe Powell (electric bass).
