Join us for October’s first Saturday edition of spIN Focus as we drop the needle on Elvis Costello and the Attractions’ genre-bending 1981 masterpiece, Trust.Positioned right at the hinge between the manic punk-pop fury of Get Happy!! and the country stylings of Almost Blue, Trust captures Costello and his legendary backing band at a fascinating creative crossroads. Supported by Nick Lowe's polished production, the album effortlessly glides through post-punk bite, jazz, soul, rockabilly, and pop sophistication.
We’ll kick off the hour with a brief introduction unpacking the early-'80s post-punk landscape, Nick Lowe's studio touch, and the stylistic shifts that defined this era. Then, we turn the floor over entirely to the music for a full, uninterrupted spin of the record—letting our high-end sound system highlight Bruce Thomas's fluid bass lines, Steve Nieve's inventive keyboards, and Costello's razor-sharp vocal delivery with pristine analog clarity.
Drop in, grab a drink, and experience one of Costello's finest achievements in full hi-fi sound! Doors open at 3:30 PM | Intro & Listen at 4:00 PM.
