Time for another trip from the swamps of Jersey, down Highway 9, to the heart of E Street. Come explore the world of Bruce Springsteen and the band, digging back through 50 years of Springsteen albums, shows and rarities. This show will feature The Wild, The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle-Live.Tonight’s show will focus on Bruce’s second studio release, The Wild, The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle. This album is marked by a noticeable lack of outtake material. While a good portion of what little is out there was ultimately released, we’ll listen to a couple of tracks that weren’t, ultimately winding up with a standout 1978 live version of perhaps the best-known outtake from this era, "The Fever."
After this, we have a special treat. The Wild, The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle has been performed straight through live only twice in Bruce’s performing history--the first time, in New York City, near the end of the Working on a Dream tour in 2009, and once in Australia at the end of his tour there in 2014. We’ll listen to the performance of the album in New York City in 2009, and its one not to be missed. Listen for a standout version of "New York City Serenade," complete with an 8-piece string section, a very rare live performance of "Wild Billy’s Circus Song," and of course, the "Incident" into "Rosalita" moment that you’ve listened to so many times. And as always, there’ll be another song or two from the treasure chest. . . .
Doors open at 6:30 PM | Intro & Listen at 7:00 PM.
