About this Event
In this unique event, Glen Williamson, of presents a reading of Vladimir Solovyov’s Antichrist story, written in 1900. The Antichrist is a futuristic apocalyptic narrative set in the 21st century. A brilliant, charismatic “superman” is possessed by a satanic spirit and rises to become president of a united Europe, then emperor of the world. The tale draws heavily on biblical imagery (especially Revelation).
Vladimir Sergeyevich Solovyov (Russian: Владимир Сергеевич Соловьёв; 28 January 1853 – 13 August 1900) was a Russian philosopher, theologian, poet, pamphleteer, and literary critic, who played a significant role in the development of Russian philosophy and poetry at the end of the 19th century and in the spiritual renaissance of the early 20th century.
Anthroposophists frequently connect Solovyov's literary depiction of the Antichrist with Rudolf Steiner's (1861–1925) spiritual-scientific descriptions of the coming Incarnation of Ahriman. [1], Both thinkers warned that the ultimate spiritual trial for modern humanity involves resisting a comfortable, intellectually seductive global materialism that masquerades as human emancipation while severing the soul from the Christ impulse."
