About this Event
SHE SHANTIES "Craft and Sing"
1pm to 4pm, Saturday 14th November at Rottingdean Grange
Workshop in the Ground Floor Community Room in the Library Building
Rottingdean Grange, The Green, High Street, Rottingdean BN2 7HA
Come join us for some crafting and singing at Rottingdean Grange. We will be making some felted birdies - with the emphasis on mythical & fantasical birds. We welcome your creativity! Making ideas could include Punk Rock Robins and Martlets!
This is a new type of event for us, as we are usually in Rottingdean Windmill, but that's still being repaired, so thought we would try something different in the meantime.

The She Shanty Sessions
These are led by local singers Jo N and Jo Goddard, who sing at a number of local folk events, including Homeward Bound shanty sessions at the Jolly Brewer and Farm Tavern. Jo G organises shanty and folk sessions - usually at Rottingdean Windmill and holds crafting workshops. Jo N is newer to singing and is keen to encourage others who might feel less confident.
We have held the She Shanty workshops since September 2024 to encourage women and people with a connection to that identity (trans and nonbinary folks very welcome) to sing up, sing along, and enjoy a shanty / singing session. We want to help build up the confidence of more women singers and singers of other marginalised genders to take part in the various shanty sessions around Sussex.
Free to register then we will take a collection on the door. Pay what you can afford. No-one turned away for lack of funds. Your presence is more valuable than money ❤
Donations will go towards hire of the space and refreshments - hot drinks available, bring a travel mug. Reserve a spot here then donate on the day, cash or card.
