Paperback launch of Sexed: A History of British Feminism by Susanna Rustin
About this Event

On 10 October 1903, Emmeline Pankhurst invited a small group of women to 62 Nelson Street and founded the Women's Social and Political Union (The Suffragettes). We invite you to celebrate that anniversary with Susanna Rustin, author, and leader writer on social affairs at The Guardian. Susanna will be launching the revised paperback edition of her book Sexed: A History of British Feminism at the Pankhurst Museum. A radical retelling of the story of British feminism from the 1790s to the present day. Susanna's history explores the background and development of suffragist and suffragette campaigns. Then, as now, she highlights the debates within and between groups of women as to how best advance women's rights, giving us a context in which to understand better the Pankhursts, the WSPU and feminism more widely.

Join us to discuss the book and celebrate the anniversary of one of the most important milestones in British feminist history. We will also be launching our new 'Friends of the Pankhurst Museum' scheme and invite you to celebrate with us this milestone in the museum's history.

You will be able to purchase signed copies of Sexed and other merchandise at the museum shop.

Your ticket price includes discussion of the book, a guided visit to the Pankhurst Museum and refreshments.
