Join us for a special in-person screening of The Boy with the Topknot, followed by a panel discussion with the cast, at Unspoken: The UK South Asian Mental Health Film Festival.
Based on Sathnam Sanghera’s memoir, the film follows Sathnam, a British Punjabi man in London, as he prepares to challenge his family’s expectations around marriage. In doing so, he uncovers painful truths about his father’s schizophrenia and long-held family secrets. It explores identity, family, stigma, culture and mental health across generations.
Unspoken: The UK South Asian Mental Health Film Festival is an initiative by Tongues on Fire CIO, in partnership with mental health organisations Psychiatry Research Trust, Concern for Mental Health, and the Centre of Applied Research and Evaluation International Foundation (CAREIF).
