About this Event
It was the fire, a flood, a hurried move, a devastating loss and everything was gone. But not your stories and not your memories.
This workshop invites participants to explore how everyday objects can become portals into memory, family history, and belonging. The treasured object might be gone but what might return in finding a piece that unfolds that memory again. Participants will search the space for an object that sparks a personal or inherited story, then gather for a guided writing workshop centered on memory, reclamation, and community storytelling. Through close attention and generative prompts, we will consider what objects carry, what they awaken, and how poetry can help us recover parts of ourselves that may have been forgotten, displaced, or left unnamed. At the end of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to take their chosen object home, giving it a new life as both a keepsake and a vessel for the story it helped uncover.
