Experience a vibrant fusion of heritage and innovation through Rwandan Traditional and Contemporary Dance. Led by Isaac Gasangwa (IZO), this workshop offers a deep dive into the soul of Rwandan culture. Participants will master iconic styles such as Ikinimba, a rhythmic "warrior dance" characterized by powerful footwork, and Umushayayo, a graceful, flowing dance inspired by the movements of majestic long-horned cattle. Beyond traditional forms, the sessions bridge the gap to modern expression by integrating Afrobeats and contemporary techniques, focusing on storytelling, high-energy coordination, and communal joy.*Please note that the Windborne Studio, where the workshop will be held, is not fully accessible for individuals with mobility-related accessibility needs due to stairs.
If you have any accessibility needs or require additional accommodations to support your participation, please contact us at [email protected] in advance of the workshop. We will do our best to support your needs and ensure your experience is as accessible and welcoming as possible.
