About this Event
What you’ll experience
You’ll work in a team, receive a real-world commercial brief and take it from shoot to edit, all against the clock. Head out to capture your footage, then return to turn it into a finished edit, recreating the pace and decision-making of a live commercial job. Please bring a laptop with you for the editing portion of the workshop.
At the end, selected edits will be shown on screen and reviewed with Oska, giving you practical feedback on what worked and what could make them even stronger. Your finished film will be submitted to Sony for review, with a submission link provided closer to the date.
Shoot with Sony Alpha cameras and lenses*, or bring your own camera - all brands welcome.
What you’ll learn
- How to think on your feet when things don’t go to plan
- How to capture coverage that actually works in the edit
- How to light quickly and effectively on location using Nanlite kit
- How to shoot with the edit in mind so you save time on post-production
- How to make confident creative decisions under pressure, just as you would on a real job
What makes this session different
This isn’t a session where you simply watch someone else work. You’ll be making the film.
Rather than being shown how it’s done, you’ll experience the process yourself, working against the clock with a commercial director there to guide you. You’ll leave having taken a brief through the full creative process: shoot, edit and feedback, all in two hours.
Who can attend
This event series is open to all ages.
Attendees under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
All participants must hold a valid ticket.
Arrival Information
Please arrive 15 minutes early for an on time start for all and to faciliate check in. Late arrivals may not be able to be accommodated.
What to bring?
Please bring a physical form of Government Issued Photo ID and secondary ID to faciliate your loan cameras (where applicable) and to confirm your registration for workshops.
