About this Event
In this talk Dr Chris Breward will reflect on his experiences as a fashion historian, curator and museum director in over three decades working at institutions including London College of Fashion, The Royal College of Art, the V&A, the University of Edinburgh and National Museums Scotland, tracing the shifting role fashion has played in Museum research, acquisitions, gallery developments and exhibition programmes in the UK and internationally.
The talk will be followed by a drinks reception

Dr Chris Breward
Chris is the Director of National Museums Scotland. He was trained at the Courtauld Institute and the Royal College of Art, London and has previously worked as Director of Collection and Research at the National Galleries of Scotland, Head of Research at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London and as Principal of Edinburgh College of Art, University of Edinburgh. His published interests include the relationship between art and fashion, visual and cultural histories of masculinity, and histories of city life.
