PRIFF 2026: Visions & Other Worlds Eight films exploring fear, betrayal, loneliness and mortality, as ordinary lives are pushed towards extraordinary moments of reckoning.
About this Event

Part of PRIFF 2026, now in its fifth year, Visions & Other Worlds brings together eight films exploring fear, mortality, isolation and the moments when ordinary lives are pushed beyond their limits.

Across the programme, terror takes many forms. A music producer discovers that a mysterious recording carries a deadly secret, while an amateur archaeologist excavating a Lancashire peat bog uncovers something far more disturbing than the remains they came to find. Elsewhere, a woman's experience of sexual betrayal drives her towards a twisted act of revenge, and Joan of Arc confronts the devastating human cost of her first military victory.

Moving between the personal and the societal, a documentary exposes the hidden reality of sex trafficking in Chattanooga, Tennessee, while a young couple seeking escape from their demanding lives enter the clandestine world of shopping-cart rides. On the road, a solitary truck driver grapples with loneliness, fatherhood and the possibility of reconnecting with the daughter he has spent years avoiding. Finally, a terminally ill man embarks on an inward journey through memory, confronting his impending death as he searches for acceptance and peace.

Together, these films examine the boundaries of human endurance and the choices we make when confronted with our deepest fears. From the supernatural to the deeply personal, On the Edge explores what happens when there is nowhere left to hide.
