⚡🚲 MAKE ELECTRICITY WITH YOUR OWN LEGS! 🚲⚡Ever wanted to generate your own electricity?
Join us for a hands-on weekend exploring pedal power, where we will design and build systems that turn human energy into useful electricity.
You don't need to be an electrician or electronics expert. We'll explore the theory together and then get hands-on building real working systems.
PEDAL POWER GENERATOR WORKSHOP
Saturday 31st October & Sunday 1st November
The Ideas Factory
28 Bidder Street, Canning Town, E16 4ST
SATURDAY 31ST OCTOBER
DESIGN AND MAKE A PEDAL POWERED GENERATOR
We'll explore:
- The basics of electricity and electronics
- How pedal powered generators work
- Different ways of generating and storing energy
- How to design a pedal power system for your own needs
- How to add USB ports to charge any USB devices
- Building a working pedal powered system
SUNDAY 1ST NOVEMBER
COMPLETE THE GENERATOR AND GETTING CREATIVE
We'll complete any unfinished builds and explore how pedal power can be used to power a sound system, cinema or other needs.
Depending on the interests and ideas of the group, we'll experiment with different projects and possibilities.
If you cannot make this second day you will have learned most of the basics on day one, so its not essential.
WANT TO BUILD YOUR OWN SYSTEM TO TAKE HOME?
You can!
If you want to build your own pedal powered generator during the workshop and take it home afterwards, you will need to purchase the components in advance.
We'll help you work out what you need and provide guidance on choosing the right parts.
IMPORTANT: Register at least 4 weeks before the workshop if you want to build your own system to take home.
This gives enough time to receive the parts list, order your components and make sure everything arrives before the workshop.
Your system could be designed for:
- Charging phones and USB devices
- Powering lights
- Powering a small sound system
- Charging batteries or storing energy
- Educational demonstrations
- Or something else you want to experiment with!
This workshop is about more than simply following instructions to make one particular machine. We'll explore how to understand, design and adapt pedal powered systems for different needs.
COST
We want to make this workshop available to everybody, regardless of financial circumstances.
The course is offered on a conscious contribution basis. Pay what you can afford and what you feel is fair for the teaching and experience.
Suggested contributions:
Ideal: £160
Average: £90
Minimum: £40
If affordability is an issue, please contact Rakesh and suggest what you can afford.
Please note: If you choose to build your own pedal powered system to take home, you will also need to purchase the components for your own build.
