Come along to learn or refresh your tree planting skills and join a great team, supervising our winter planting in Hackney's Parks and Open Spaces.
This training will cover safe tool use, how to dig square holes, how to attach tree guards and how to attach stakes. We will cover the importance of grass removal and good mulching, as well as how to manage volunteers on the day. Consider this a warm up for our winter tree planting sessions
Supervisors will be responsible for a small group of volunteers of all ages and abilities, planting one tree at a time, which includes digging a hole to the correct size, moving and lifting, planting, driving a stake, fitting a guard and mulching, etc.

The tree nursery is mainly flat and grassy ground, but can be uneven, which may be difficult for wheelchair users. The only steps are to a portacabin which serves as our office, to our compost toilet, and to our toolsheds. The polytunnels are accessible and the Hackney Marshes Centre opposite has an accessible toilet, though opening times vary. There is seating at various places around the tree nursery.
