About this Event
Project description
Parent & Baby Movement is an artist-led movement and sensory play session for parents/caregivers and their young children. Through guided movement, improvisation, music, textiles and simple sensory materials, participants are invited to move, play, and connect with their baby, exploring the rhythms, gestures, repetition and communication already present in everyday life with a young child.
The session moves between structured exercises and open play, with time afterwards to settle, talk and connect with other participants. No previous movement or dance experience is required. The sessions are adapted to different developmental stages.
Because of space restrictions, we kindly ask you to respect the limit of one adult per baby per workshop and respect the age-range of the workshops for the comfort and safety of everyone. Please book one ticket per adult and baby pair.
Parent & Baby Movement is funded by South Dublin Arts Office.
Artist biography
Gráinne O'Carroll is a Dublin-based interdisciplinary artist working across visual art and physical theatre. Trained in textiles, visual culture and corporeal mime in Dublin, Bergen and Barcelona, her practice begins with the body and develops through movement, improvisation, material processes and collective research. Her current work with parents, caregivers and young children explores how the gestures, rhythms, interruptions and physicality of early parenthood can generate new creative forms and shared languages.
