Wheatpasting has long been a tool for urgently sharing information beyond traditional institutions. This workshop will examine how wheatpaste posters have mobilized communities, evaded censorship, and reclaimed public space. Through their temporary yet visible presence in the urban landscape, wheatpasting has enabled artists and activists to respond to social and political injustices.
The first half of this workshop will feature a demonstration on how to create your own wheatpaste, followed by a hands-on wheatpasting session out in the world. Participants will learn how to apply posters in public spaces, as well as best practices for wheatpasting on the go.
