Calling young artists in and around Cary, NC! Students aged 13-18 years are invited to join us at the Page-Walker on Sunday, November 8th for Paint the Page, a day of artmaking to capture Cary’s historic 19th-century-built railroad hotel on canvas or paper using the medium of their choice. Following a short tour of the Page-Walker Arts & History Center, students will take inspiration from the building’s history and appearance to paint, draw, or sketch an artwork on site. A jury will review the submissions from the artmaking event the following week, and host a reception on Sunday, November 15th to honor all participants and award prizes for best-in-show and judges’ choice.
A $100 cash prize will be awarded to the best-in-show winner. Five $50 judges' choice prizes will also be awarded. The best-in-show will be exhibited in the Page-Walker until the end of the calendar year. All other artists can take their work home after the reception.

About the Page-Walker Arts & History Center:
The Page-Walker Hotel, now known as the Page-Walker Arts & History Center, is significant because of its historical association with Allison Francis (Frank) Page – founder of Cary, leader in the North Carolina lumber and rail industry, and father of Walter Hines Page, U.S. ambassador to Great Britain during the Wilson administration. Major renovations were conducted in the 1940s, the 1970s and the 1980s, when it was purchased by the Town of Cary. A complete restoration in the 1990s converted the old Page-Walker Hotel into a living resource for the people of Cary. Today, the Page-Walker Arts & History Center is alive with classes, events, concerts, social gatherings, and historical and fine arts exhibitions.
About the Friends of the Page-Walker Arts & History Center:
The Friends of the Page-Walker Hotel is a non-profit corporation composed of volunteers and an official partner of the Town of Cary. The Friends have evolved from a grassroots single-purpose organization into a multifaceted group that acts as Cary's historical society. The mission of the Friends is to enrich the community by serving as guardian for the Page-Walker Arts & History Center, advocating preservation of Cary historic sites, archiving history and facilitating history education, and promoting the cultural arts.
