About this Event
Join us at UCL East for a masterclass with filmmaker Nicolás Pereda, on the occasion of his retrospective at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA). Pereda will discuss his filmmaking practice and approach to cinema.
Pereda’s films explore everyday life through fractured, elliptical narratives that move between fiction and documentary. He frequently collaborates with the theatre collective Lagartijas tiradas al sol and actress Teresita Sánchez.
His work has been the subject of more than 30 retrospectives and screened at major international film festivals, including Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Locarno, New York and Toronto. His films have also been presented at leading museums and galleries, including the Reina Sofía in Madrid, the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris, the Guggenheim and MoMA in New York. Pereda is an Associate Professor of Visual Arts at Princeton University.
