Join us for a free two-hour nature journalling workshop for 16- to 25-year-olds at the world’s oldest society dedicated to the science of natural history, The Linnean Society of London, located in Burlington House, Piccadilly.
A nature journal is a personal notebook where you record your observations, thoughts, questions, and experiences about the natural world in any way you like, usually writing and drawing. Nature journalling encourages mindfulness, curiosity, connection to place and community, as well as improved knowledge of and connection with nature.
During this workshop you’ll be guided through our important natural history collection, including a visit to our vault housing our most significant items and a tour of our current Exhibition ‘Herbarium | Plants in a New Light’.
You’ll then settle into our beautiful 170-year-old library alongside materials such as notebooks, specimens, and artworks from influential naturalists to use as inspiration to start your own nature journal in the second half of the workshop.
Everyone is welcome, whether you’re an experienced nature journaler or completely new to it. To support this, all materials, including journals, will be provided and you’ll be supported by members of our engagement and collection team throughout.
Workshops are capped at 15 participants so please book early to avoid disappointment. If you have booked and can no longer attend, please cancel your booking to free up your spot for the person next on the waiting list.
