About this Event
Mining services businesses do not need another AI keynote. They need practical ways to test where AI can support real work, and where it should stay out.
For METS businesses, contractors, and resources-sector suppliers, AI opportunities often sit within repetitive, document-heavy workflows. The challenge is identifying useful applications without crossing safety, operational, compliance, or accountability boundaries.
This practical Field Lab uses realistic mining services scenarios to explore where AI may assist with report triage, shift handover, compliance documentation, and workflow support. You will test selected workflows using fictional or sanitised materials, assess the risks, and prioritise the opportunities worth exploring further.
Who this is for
This session is designed for:
- METS businesses
- Mining contractors
- Mining services providers
- Resources-sector suppliers
- Operations and business leaders
- SMEs exploring practical AI integration
No technical background is required.
What we will do together
- Map where AI fits: Identify common sector pressures and recurring workflows, then rule out use cases that are unsuitable or too high-risk.
- Set safety-critical boundaries: Distinguish administrative and documentation support from decisions that require qualified human expertise and accountability.
- Test report triage: Explore how AI can assist with reviewing and organising fictional mining services reports using a structured workflow canvas.
- Test shift handover workflows: Examine how AI may support the preparation and structuring of handover information while keeping operational judgement with the appropriate people.
- Assess the opportunity: Score potential use cases based on value, feasibility, risk, and implementation requirements.
- Build a 30-day plan: Turn the strongest opportunity into practical next steps for further testing or implementation.
What you will take home
- A Mining Services Problem Brief
- Practical Risk and Control Cards
- A tested AI Workflow Canvas
- A Scored AI Opportunity Map
- A practical 30-Day AI Implementation Plan
Good to know
Please bring your laptop and complete the 20-minute primer before the Field Lab. Only fictional or sanitised materials should be used during the session, with no client, site, operational, or confidential data. This is a practical professional development Field Lab and does not cover safety-critical system design or provide engineering, safety, or legal advice.

Refund, Cancellation and Transfer Policy
1) Your legal rights: Our services come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. Nothing in this policy limits them. This policy applies to tickets for this event only.
2) If we cancel or materially change the event: If we cancel this event, or change its date, content, format or delivery mode so materially that it no longer meets your reasonable needs, you can choose either:
(a) a full refund of the total you paid, including Eventbrite fees, to your original payment method; or
(b) a transfer to a later event of your choice.
We do not deduct any fee from these refunds. Minor changes, such as a substitute presenter, a running-order change, or a different room at the same venue, do not entitle you to a refund under this clause. If you think a change is material, email and we will decide within 5 business days. We will give reasons if we decline, and your legal rights are unaffected.
3) If you cannot attend: Tickets are non-refundable for change of mind. If you tell us at least 14 days before the event, you may move your ticket once to another session, subject to availability. It has no cash value.
4) Transferring your ticket to another person: You may transfer your ticket to another person up to 7 days before the event, by emailing with the new attendee’s name and email, or via Eventbrite’s transfer tool where enabled. Tickets must not be resold for more than you paid. We set this cut-off because we confirm final attendee numbers with the venue and caterer, and prepare name badges and course materials, 7 days before each event.
5) No-show or leaving early: No refund or credit is available if you do not attend or leave part-way through, except as required by law.
6) Refund requests: Email with your name, order number and the clause you rely on. We acknowledge requests within 5 business days and decide them within 10 business days. Approved refunds go to the original payment method and normally appear within 5 to 10 business days.
7) Conduct: We may refuse entry or remove an attendee who endangers others or seriously disrupts the event. No refund is due for that. This does not limit your legal rights.
8) Tickets sold through Eventbrite: Eventbrite processes tickets. Its refund tools and terms apply in addition to this policy, and we will honour the rights set out here. For advisory, training or consulting under a separate written agreement, that agreement’s terms apply together with clauses 1 and 2.
(Free events: use the same text, but remove “including Eventbrite fees” from clause 2, and remove the session-transfer sentence from clause 3 if tickets cannot be moved)
