About this Event
Overview
One parking space. One dinosaur. Thirty seconds.
For one day, a metered parking space at Yonge & Eglinton becomes a tiny dance floor.
Meter Rex doesn’t take coins. It takes 30 seconds.
Pick a card, slide it into our cardboard parking meter, and dance with the dinosaur. Green means photos are okay. Red means no photos. Either is completely fine.
After your 30 seconds, take a numbered receipt and add your own dinosaur sticker.
Don’t feel like dancing? That’s fine too. Watch, count along, or just enjoy the show.
Meter Rex appears in short dance sessions throughout the day. The final dinosaur dance will be around 3 PM. The installation remains open until 4 PM.
Want to dance with Rex? Come by before 3 PM.
This is a free, non-commercial, drop-in PARK(ing) Day Toronto activation. Nothing is for sale.
Sunday, September 20, 2026
11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
2384 Yonge Street
Outside Montgomery Square Park, Toronto
Look for the inflatable dinosaur and the cardboard parking meter.
RSVP is optional. No ticket is required. Walk-ins are welcome.
This is an outdoor event. In heavy rain or unsafe weather, the activation may pause or close early.
Meter Rex playfully asks what else a parking space can become when people, rather than cars, take over for a day.
What is PARK(ing) Day?
PARK(ing) Day is a global, public, participatory art project held each September. People temporarily transform parking spaces into places for art, play, conversation and community.
Meter Rex is one of the PARK(ing) Day Toronto 2026 activations.
