___

As part of the MADEBACK festival, Elena Campa presents Block Party, a hands-on workshop exploring block printing as a way to transform second-hand garments into unique pieces.

After a short introduction to printing techniques and the possibilities of manual printing, each participant designs their own graphic module using paper and pencil. The design is then turned into a printing block, which will be used during the final stage of the workshop to collectively print on reclaimed garments.

The process combines technique and experimentation: printing is approached with precision, but also through error and imperfection, which become part of the process and help make each garment unique. A low-tech approach allows participants to experiment with patterns, multiples and graphic effects without relying on complex machinery.

The process doesn't end when the workshop does. In line with the MadeBack approach, the transformed garments will become part of the festival's Market (15-16-17 Oct), where they can find a new owner.

A hands-on, creative experience open to everyone, with no previous experience needed, to experiment with handmade textile printing and reflect, through making, on the possibilities of reuse, low-tech processes and transformation.

🛠️ What's included

Provided by the staff: second-hand garments from the archive, materials for designing and making the printing blocks, fabric inks, rollers and supporting materials.

We recommend wearing clothes that can get dirty.
