About this Event
Living Archives/Archivos Vivos: Writing with Puerto Rican Memory, Spirit, and Place - Taller Puertorriqueño, with Roque Raquel Salas Rivera (Partnership with Letras Latinas)
Archives hold more than documents—they carry memory, spirit, language, neighborhood history, and the traces of those who came before us. In this workshop at Taller Puertorriqueño, participants will be introduced to Puerto Rican archival materials and invited to consider archives as living cultural spaces. Together, we will share neighborhood and city stories, reflect on what is preserved and what is missing, and write poems in response to documents, images, memory, and ancestral presence. Part archive introduction, part community storytelling circle, and part generative poetry workshop, this gathering asks how writing can become an act of remembrance, cultural preservation, and spiritual connection.
Puerto Rican Sign Language Interpretation will be provided.
