Spend the day weaving a willow bowl with a richly textured surface and soft, undulating curves.Find more info at: https://www.halfmoonbaskets.com/weekend-of-weaving-january-2027#twisted-willow-bowl
We’ll begin with a 3×3 slath base, followed by a four-rod drop-down wale to create a slight foot. From there, we’ll build up the sides with the rope coil weave. Once you get the hang of it, this weave moves quickly. We’ll finish with a traditional rod border.
This is an intermediate workshop, and some previous weaving experience is recommended. Keen beginners are also very welcome.
If this is your first basket, it might turn out a little smaller or a touch more wobbly, and that’s perfectly okay. The loose, flowing texture of the rope coil weave is forgiving, allowing each basket to find its own shape.
