Bryan J Mason comes to Lawrence Weston library on Saturday 10 October at 1pm to talk all things crime writing.
It took him over thirty years before his first novel, Shaking Hands with the Devil, was published but he has since published a trilogy set in Northern Ireland during the Troubles. He will talk about his unique brand, of black comedy crime, and as well as performing some readings, he will cover the use of historical research to create novels described as ‘witty and gritty.’
Before writing crime, he worked as a financial investigator, a mediator and made sound effects for BBC Radio. He also writes regular theatre reviews and writes and directs the Hotwells Pantomime. A member of the Crime Writers Association he lives in Bristol. He enjoys swimming, eating out and the theatre, but is never happier than when hanging around in graveyards, which he thinks might come in handy one day.
The final part of his Troubles trilogy, There Are No Happy Endings, is published on 1 October. He is currently writing a new series set in a Victorian undertakers.
