Set against the soaring, rose-tinted stone of Chester Cathedral —and in part performing under the watchful eye of Henry VIII depicted in the historic Chapter House stained glass—this production strips away the spectacle of the Tudor court to reveal the pulse of the woman beneath the crown. Through a masterful blend of text, innovative binaural soundscapes, and live performance, we invite you to experience Katharine’s devotion, defiance, and resilience. 500 years on it’s amazing how the themes of Katharine’s story resonate in today's world.
The English Reformation—in part triggered by the fallout of Katharine’s marriage—fractured and reshaped the nation’s religious and civic life leading to the dissolution of Chester's ancient Abbey of St Werburgh and the founding of the cathedral itself.
