About this Event
A FIRST CONCERT, THE WAY IT SHOULD BE
Most children meet an orchestra from the tenth row, in silence, being told to sit still. This one is the opposite.
Around a short, bright programme — Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf and Saint-Saëns' The Carnival of the Animals — children can come right up to the instruments: hold a bow, pluck a string, find out where the sound actually comes from. An hour of music, and the discovery that the noise in the room is being made by people, not by a speaker.
If this is your child's first concert, it is the right one to start with.

WHAT TO EXPECT
About sixty minutes of music, with time before and after to meet the instruments up close. This concert is designed for children and their grown-ups, which means wiggling, whispering and questions out loud are warmly welcome. Nobody here will shush your family.
As with every Great Lakes Philharmonic performance, there is no recording, no livestream and no replay. This afternoon happens once.
GETTING HERE
Humber Valley United Church, 76 Anglesey Boulevard, Etobicoke.
The Great Lakes Philharmonic is a registered Canadian non-profit. Every ticket goes directly to paying the musicians on that stage, and your being in the hall is what makes the next concert possible.
